Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

The Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead was founded in 1978 with the intention of recreating a Kansas farm from the turn of the century and providing a place for children to learn about farm life. This place has pony rides, approximately 250 animals and birds of prey, vegetable and flower gardens, a one-room schoolhouse, an old-fashioned fishing pond, and much more can all be found at the Farmstead.

A 12-acre educational farm environment that cultivates an understanding of farm life, wildlife, and Kansas Heritage is the setting for a variety of activities, attractions, and events that are offered beginning April 1 and continuing through October 31 that are perfect for kids and adults of all ages. Events such as Cowboy Campfire Stories, Butter Churning Demonstrations, Harvest Hayrides, and more give visitors a taste of what life was like on a Kansas farm over 100 years ago.

The Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is a unique place that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re interested in learning about Kansas history or just want to enjoy a day on the farm, the Children’s Farmstead is sure to please. This Farmstead is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to step back in time and learn about Kansas’s history and culture at the turn of the century. The farmstead is designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century homestead, complete with a one-room schoolhouse, barnyard animals, and a farming implement display.

Visitors can bottle-feed pygmy goats, mine for gemstones, or simply spend time enjoying the company of friendly animals. This place also features a regular nursing practice, which provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about early 20th-century medical care. With so much to see and do, the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is sure to be a hit with visitors of all ages.

The Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, Kansas is dedicated to supporting the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, and public art programs. One of the ways they raise funds for these critical initiatives is through special events. They are proud to host a variety of time-honored events and hope you can join them for one or many!

Their signature event is the Annual Gala, which features live music, a Silent Auction, and delicious food and drink. They also host an annual 5K run/walk, as well as smaller events throughout the year.
