Albuquerque International Ballon Fiesta

Albuquerque provides one of the world’s best spots for hot air ballooning. The International Balloon Fiesta is the most famous event in all of Mexico. It’s not hard to see why – hundreds and thousands come from around this country just for this one occasion.

The world comes together to celebrate this event. For more than a week, hot-air balloons from all over fill the cold morning skies with their colorful decor as they celebrate, encouraging people to get up and enjoy life.

The balloons are inflated again for evening “balloon glows,” where they shine against the dark sky. The burners on each side of the fire into place to make these glowing balls float up into their final position high above us all.

The balloons are so numerous that they can be seen from almost any place in the city. This festival is one of enjoyment for all ages.

The Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum is open year-round and features a great selection of ballooning history, as well as exhibits on the history.

The permanent installations at this museum include a Balloon School, the Weather Lab, and an experiential 4-D theater. The children’s museum offers an array of programs that focus on science and creativity.
